SEO Basics: Set Your Website's Title and Description on Google
Published on Oct 14, 2026
What it's for
When someone searches for your business on Google, the first thing they see is a title and two lines of description. That is what makes them click, or not. By default, Flopix generates them for you from your name, your line of work and your town. With the SEO option, you write them yourself and follow a score with practical tips.Turn on the option
- Open your website, then the Advanced options tile.
- In the "Services and connections" group, expand the SEO card and click Enable.
- The SEO page appears in your menu, under My site. Open it.
What you set on the SEO page
- Site title: about 60 characters. Example: "Dupont Auto Repair, car repair shop in Austin". If left empty, it is generated automatically (name, line of work, town).
- Meta description: the sentence shown under the title, about 155 characters. If left empty, it is taken from your description.
- Keywords (optional): the words your customers use, for example "hair salon, Austin, color, haircut".
- Service area (optional): useful if you travel to customers, for example "Austin and surrounding area (20 miles)".
- Price range: from "budget" to "high end", or not specified.
- Share image: the picture shown when your website is shared on Facebook, WhatsApp and so on. Otherwise your logo or first photo is used.
Our tips
- Put your line of work and your town in the title: that is what people type.
- Write a description that makes people want to click: your specialty, what sets you apart, an invitation ("Book online").
- Keep the title and description unique, not a list of keywords.
- SEO takes time: allow a few weeks before you see results.
Going further
On the same page, the Google connections section points you to two other options: Google SEO (Search Console, to track your clicks and keywords) and Visit statistics (Google Analytics). To see your traffic, also turn on the Site statistics option. What if I don't want to show up on Google?
A checkbox lets you keep your site out of Google (hide it from search results). Only use it in special cases: a test site or a private page.🎃 Create your site for free
